A buffer tank is usually configured between the lauter and the kettle, to help protect the tanks and avoid any potential sucking problem during lautering process. A compact Two vessel system is the most standard design and widely used among these. Including one mash lauter tun, one kettle whirlpool tank, no problem for one batch brewing, and also flexible for adding another vessel (hot water tank) to achieve higher efficiency of the system.
